What’s something you could talk about for way too long?

Cemeteries. They hold history in plain sight. After helping restore one in the town where my family was once enslaved, I learned how much is hidden in symbols and silence. This shaped how I see storytelling. The most important narratives aren’t loud, they’re just overlooked.

What’s a risk you’d take again without thinking twice?

Skydiving. After that, most risks feel smaller.

What’s your version of a perfect day that has no agenda?

A slow morning, coffee, and cooking for my daughter with my wife. Ending the same way, making home cooked dinner for our family. No rush. Movie night with the people closest to me.

What’s something you believed early that turned out to be right?

That the Dallas Mavericks would win the 2011 NBA Finals. Both teams were elite, but Dallas’s cohesion and experience stood out to me. I’ve trusted that instinct ever since.

What’s something you romanticize more than you should?

The creative grind—late nights, last-minute breakthroughs, convincing myself the pressure is “part of the process.” It’s not always glamorous, but the delusion right before a breakthrough? Elite.

What’s a detail you always notice that other people don’t?

Tone shifts—when something almost works but not quite. A line that’s slightly off, a moment that lingers too long, a brand that’s saying one thing visually and another emotionally. Those micro-misalignments stand out immediately.

What’s your go-to way of getting unstuck?

Walking away—strategically, not dramatically. I’ve learned that forcing it rarely works, but changing the lens almost always does. Also, a little bit of “this actually isn’t that deep” goes a long way.

What’s your go-to snack when no one is watching?

It really is just raisin-bran cereal.
